Attended a private party here, had Evan as our attendant. Amazing experience. The menu was delicious, the service was perfect, the drink were great. Can't recommend this place more.

Nut allergy warning: Came for their prix fixe lunch menu. Their pork belly is topped with walnut, tamarind, burnt honey and chili glaze. The sorbet also may have nuts. Would highly recommend warning your waiter and keeping an eye out, because they did make a mistake with mine (more on that below). Parking: I don't like valet, so I parked at Post Oak Plaza by Arhaus and walked over. There is complimentary valet available (tipping encouraged). We had a reservation for three at 12:30PM on a Sunday and were promptly seated. Overall, the restaurant was not too busy during this time. Time-to-Drinks: ~5 minutes Time-to-First-Course: 15 Minutes Time-to-Second-Course: ~30 Minutes Time-to-Desserts: 1 hr, 15 minutes TL;DR on the above: Definitely set aside some time for having lunch. With the three of us, we all went with their prix fixe menu and shared most dishes, along with tasting each other's drinks. Brussel Sprouts (4.5/5): Very nicely caramelized, good texture (although slightly inconsistent as some are crispier and some are soggier), nice portion that is quite sharable. Hama Chili (4.5/5): 4 or 5 slices of yellowtail sashimi on citrus with ponzu sauce. An Uchi classic that is always a hit. Wagyu Burger (4/5): I liked this a lot more than I expected for a burger from a sushi spot. The patty has a great texture, and the flavors are rich and blend well between the cheese, pickles, and meat itself. I'd say the fries are a bit weak (some not that crispy) but the aioli they gave was pretty good. Hearth Pork Belly (3.5/5): Nice char, good amount of salt but balanced with the burnt honey/chili glaze gives a nice offset flavor. Portions weren't that large for this one - I think you only get 5 pieces. So if you go with the hama chili + the pork belly...you're probably leaving hungry. There was a slight miss in service where I informed the waiter that I had a nut allergy, and a different waiter brought over a pork belly dish which had nuts. Thankfully, my friends caught it and it was returned and re-made. To make it up, the kitchen upgraded our desserts from the prix fixe, for which I appreciated the gesture. Dessert: Pretzel Tart (4/5): This is the only Uchi dessert I hadn't had before, and I actually really liked what they did between the maple flavor and the crust. Downside, you really have to dig into it to break a piece off (the crust is quite hard). Milk & Cereal (4.5/5): Uchi's cornerstone dessert always hits. If your waiter doesn't tell you, try to get a bite with a bit of everything. Cheesecake (3.5/5): While this was a nice refreshing cheesecake, I feel like it sits in a weird place where it's not a rich cheesecake but it's not as light as a Japanese cheesecake. I liked it, but it didn't do anything crazy. Cocktails: Koen (4.5/5): I got hit with a bad memory of a jalapeno beer while drinking this, but aside from that I really liked the spice and cucumber mix. Hachi no Hiza (3.5/5): A much lighter gin drink, little sweet with the honey. Lychee Martini (4/5): Surprisingly tasted more like lychee than I expected. Good balance of sake and vodka taste. Would order again. Subarashi (4/5): Kind of like you squeeze some lemon and floral coloring into tequila. The slight smokiness/agave of the reposado lingers a bit, leaving a nice warm mouth feeling. Espresso Martini (?/5): I actually didn't try this, but my friend ordered three so... it's probably good? Sobohana (4.5/5): If you like gin, this is the most gin forward of all of the gin drinks we tried. It's basically like a spin on a gimlet. Love what they did here. Overall, the lunch prix fixe and amazing cocktail happy hour is a great time with friends for a reasonable price. Despite the miss with my nut allergy, service remained on point and considerate otherwise. Would recommend.

I came for their soft opening years ago and even though we’ve been back many times to Uchi it wasn’t until recently that we went back for my Wife’s birthday. Ever since moving to the suburbs we don’t get to have as many in town date nights anymore so when we do we want them to be special. Uchiko delivered! Their sushi is always fresh and delicious and they have some new inventions that are really mind blowing. On this trip we stuck to some classics uni, engawa (my absolute favorite! Yellowtail, and hot rock. We added some new additions the quail and tiger cry. The tiger cry was a unique addition with it being crunchy and light. For dessert we got the classic fried milk and added in the mochi churros. Wow! The mochi churros might have overtaken the fried milk! The service was always spot on as each dish comes out with a great explanation. Thank you making my wife’s birthday another great experience!

Lovely first experience, no complaints. If you’re waiting to try the prix fixe lunch set, this is your sign to try. Even if they didn’t have it, I would consider coming back for service, ambiance, and food alone. Kelly did a great job serving us and I love the environment uchiko has during lunch. It’s a great place to slow down and catch up in the busy city. Food: hearth pork belly was good. Love the flavors but could come to be quite small if you order from al là carte. Burger was a standard burger, nothing to write home to be frank. Hama chili was one of my personal favorites but the tuna tataki wasn’t anything special. We received milk and cereal dessert and madai nigiri on the house and I would definitely order that on the side again! Overall, enjoyable experience, would come back again.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | The Absolute Best Sushi in Houston! If you are looking for the pinnacle of Japanese dining, look no further. Uchiko Houston is hands down the best sushi restaurant in Houston, Texas. From the moment you walk into the sleek, wood-accented space on Post Oak, you know you’re in for an elevated experience that perfectly balances Uchi’s classic refinement with a bold, hearth-fired edge. We went on a culinary journey through the menu, and every single bite was a masterpiece: The Raw Essentials: The Madai sashimi was incredibly delicate, and the Hama Chili (yellowtail with ponzu and Thai chili) remains a legendary must-order for a reason. For nigiri, the Sake Toro and Kurodai were melt-in-your-mouth fresh, but the Bluefin Chutoro and Otoro were the true stars—rich, buttery, and pure luxury. Unique Bites: Don’t sleep on the Gyutoro beef nigiri. It’s savory, fatty, and perfectly torched. The Negitoro roll and Spicy Crunchy Tuna provided the perfect texture, while the Sake Salmon roll was a bright, fresh highlight. From the Hearth: The Chicken Karaage was impossibly crispy, and the Grilled Shishito Peppers and Gem Lettuce offered a fantastic charred depth. For those wanting something heartier, the Steak Frites (featuring Texas Wagyu) and the Smash Burger are game-changers—Uchiko proves they can master the grill just as well as the sushi bar. The Sweet Finale You cannot leave without dessert. The Milk & Cereal is a nostalgic, elevated delight with the perfect crunch, and the Pineapple Cheesecake (paired with a refreshing Calpico granita) was the light, tropical finish we needed. The service was impeccable, the atmosphere was electric, and the food was flawless. If you want the best sushi Houston has to offer, Uchiko is the undisputed champion.

Tried the lunch special and was thoroughly impressed. It has a choice of appetizer, main and sorbet The burger was juicy and flavorful, elevated with premium ingredients and a perfectly soft bun. The gem lettuce salad was crisp and refreshing. Finished off with a delicate peach sorbet, which was the perfect touch of sweetness to cleanse the palate. The Jasmine honey tea was smooth and refreshing, great alongside the meal. A well-balanced lunch that felt indulgent yet clean. Great value for the quality and presentation.

I absolutely loved this place! First time there and Evan was so kind to be our server tonight. He was so helpful that he made all the menu choices for us and omg did every thing that came to our table only exceeded from the previous, it was all so delicious. The presentation and execution of each dish was *chef’s kiss* amazing. We sat on the patio, closer to the doors… would recommend sitting out the outer tables because no fan hits your direction but overall, the food and drinks made up for the experience. Highly recommend! Thank you Evan and team for an amazing top tier experience. cant wait to go again! Perhaps for brunch
